The LCD was not damaged during removal. Now I just have to find a reliable method to attach the glass without damaging the backlight or getting air bubbles trapped inside of the LOCA glue.
This is not a complete repair tutorial. After you remove the display assembly from your G3 this is the next step before fitting it with a new lens+digitizer. The machine that I used in this video is here.
